Niree Kodaverdian, Ph.D. is a Research Manager at Beacon Economics, LLC. Dr. Kodaverdian leads data research and analysis across key practice areas including Public Policy Analysis; Housing, Land Use, and Real Estate; and Economic, Fiscal, and Social Impact Analysis. She is the author of the firm’s widely distributed Beacon Outlook California, which is a trusted resource used by businesses, policymakers, and the media seeking insights on the state’s economy.
With over a decade of experience working with law firms, Dr. Kodaverdian also co-leads the firm’s legal consulting practice. She has served as an economic expert in litigation settings, including depositions and arbitrations.
Dr. Kodaverdian is highly adept at working with complex datasets to uncover underlying economic trends and relationships. She has deep experience in data processing, analysis, and visualization using econometric tools such as STATA, R, and MATLAB. She also programs custom surveys, experiments, and simulations to inform counterfactual scenarios and policy outcomes.
In addition to her technical skills, Dr. Kodaverdian is a seasoned and engaging public speaker who excels at communicating complex economic ideas in accessible, relatable ways. She has testified at city council meetings, county board hearings, and other public forums on behalf of clients, and is trusted by both public and private sector partners to deliver clear, compelling insights that resonate with diverse audiences.
Dr. Kodaverdian has successfully managed large-scale research projects, consistently delivering high-quality results that lead to repeat work from satisfied clients. A few of her recent projects include economic and fiscal impact analyses of a major clean energy storage project, of the venues and programs of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and of a proposed baseball stadium in the City of Medford, Oregon. She also recently conducted a regional intelligence and policy analysis for the Los Angeles Fashion Business Improvement District. She is a strong team leader known for motivating and empowering her teams to collaborate, take ownership, and achieve ambitious project goals.
Her academic research explores the behavioral and neural foundations of decision making. During her Ph.D. at USC, she developed lab-in-field experiments to study economic behavior across the lifespan. Her work has contributed to several successful grant awards and has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Games and Economic Behavior, and Human Brain Mapping. Prior to joining Beacon Economics, Dr. Kodaverdian taught undergraduate and MBA-level university courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, behavioral economics, environmental economics, and managerial economics. She has built a reputation for making challenging economic concepts and models understandable and engaging for a wide range of learners.
Dr. Kodaverdian holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southern California, an M.A. in Economics also from the University of Southern California, and a B.A. in Economics, with departmental and college honors, from UCLA.
