As an economist, Dr. Valdes Ibarra specializes in regional economic development, public policy analysis, and environmental sustainability. Her expertise includes economic forecasting, developing sustainable growth strategies, and performing advanced data analysis using statistical and econometric software programs such as Python, R, STATA, SQL, and Tableau.
Dr. Valdes Ibarra is an experienced public speaker, proficient in conveying complex economic concepts and their practical implications to diverse academic, business, and government audiences. She has also authored a wide variety of publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and technical reports.
Before joining Beacon Economics, Dr. Valdes Ibarra was an Economics Professor and Researcher at Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila where she spearheaded multidisciplinary research projects that integrated economic analysis with policy evaluation. She also mentored graduate students in research that aligned with her expertise.
In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Valdes Ibarra has provided consultancy services to a variety of national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations. Her consultancy work has primarily involved assessing the impacts of public policies on regional development and sustainability, with a significant focus on economic development, energy transition, impacts on regional stability, and advancing sustainable growth strategies.
Dr. Valdes Ibarra holds a Ph.D. and an M.Sc. in Regional Economics, both with honors, from Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila. She holds a B.Sc. in Computer Systems Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico.
